How Chelsea could lineup after the international break

It’s has been a silent week for clubs but a busy one for most players and the national team.

Chelsea had almost all their players called for international duty including newly recovered players like Ben Chilwel and Hakim Ziyech.

Ben Chilwel was just starting to play while Ziyech is still yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this season.

Ziyech and Chilwell however, returned back to London earlier than the rest as a precautionary measure. Chilwell is rumured to have picked a knock in his foot but according to report, it isn’t serious and he is expected to be ready for our next game.

How our players performed on international duty.

Few players got into action with their individual national teams. The likes of Reece James made his professional England debut. Mason got a goal against Belgium, Giroud got a goal for France, Ziyech an assist for Morocco, while Havertz also got an assists.

Overall, it was a good performance, indicating they were involved in the game which is good for their fitness.

Injuries Setback?

Edouard Mendy picked up a slight injury with Senegal and returned early to London for treatment while Chilwell developed as bad foot as said earlier but we believe both injuries to be unserious so both of them should be ready for the next Chelsea game.

Cristiano Ronaldo however has tested positive for the Corona Virus and considering the fact that Portugal just had a game with France, Giroud and Kante risk getting infected but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Possible Lineups after the Break

Lampard has been unable to field the player he wants since the beginning of the season but it seems that is about to end after this international break.

The major players who were out are now fit. Ziyech played about 45mins for Morocco and Pulisic featured for about 10 mins in Chelsea’s last game against Southampton.

With no serious new injuries, Lampard now has a big decision to make in deciding a starting lineup as there are lots of hungry players available.

Lampard hinted in his last press conference that he already has plans for Ziyech and Pulisic and considering the availability of Mount and Haverz also, What should we be expecting?

Well, I think it’s high time we saw the our anticipated front three of Pulisic, Werner and Ziyech. This would be the most logical decision while Mason Mount or Kai Havertz sits behind the attack. This means that one from Mason Mount or Kai Havertz has to be on the bench for someone like Kovacic to be in that midfield also.

For the defense, Chilwell will obviously be taking the leftback spot. Because Azpilcueta’s presence will be needed as captain, the rightback spot could be difficult for Reece James.

A center back pair of Thiago Silva and Zouma is more logical considering recent form while new keeper Mendy should be guiding the post once he recovers from this injury fully.
