Finally the international break is done and we are back to club football.
Chelsea will resume their Premier League campaign today at Stamford Bridge against the Saints.
Chelsea comfortably won their last game 4-0 against Crystal Palace while Southampton took all three points also from West Brom after an impressive 2-0 win.
Chelsea will be a bit weary of the game as they lost to Southampton 2-0 last season at Stamford Bridge and the South East club never makes it too comfortable for the Blues.
What to expect
After a 4-0 win against Palace and also a 2-0 win from the saints, spirits are definitely high in both teams.
Chelsea are expecting a boost in newly recovered players Ziyech and Pulisic and with the league still just getting started we can’t entirely predict the outcome tomorrow but we expect a dominant performance from the Blues in what is expected to be an exciting game overall.
Injury Updates/Players availability
Lampard confirmed in his press conference today that newly recovered players Ziyech, Pulisic and Chilwell will be in the squad for the game.
While Ziyech is confirmed to be starting from the bench even after having some in minutes in the international break with Morocco, Pulisic and Chilwell are fit to start if Lampard wants to use them.
Unfortunately, Mendy and Thaigo have been ruled out of the game by Lampard.
Mendy picked up an injury during the international break while Thaigo arrived late from the break and can’t be ready in time for the game.
Lampard confirmed Ziyech won’t be starting tomorrow, but refused to say whether Pulisic will start. Also who would start between Kepa and Caballero with the absence Mendy was not revealed by Lamapard in his press session. However we expect a lineup containing Pulisic and Kepa.
Kepa had a game with Spain and kept a clean sheet while report from cobham traning group by Simon Phillips claims Pulisic has been training very well and would be the favorite winger to start against Southampton.
Werner and Havertz were heavily involved for Germany during the international break and we expect them to be in the squad also including Mason Mount who got a goal for England.
Tammy is expected to sit out after failing to play a single game during the break.
