Lampard took along some Chelsea U-23 players for our last Champions League group stage match against Krasnodar yesterday and the likes of Billy Gilmour and Tino Anjorin who made the starting lineup had an impressive performance.
Tino Anjorin played for about 80 mins while Billy Gilmour played full 90 minutes.
After the match, Lampard heaped praises on both youngsters and insisted Tino Anjorin will continue to spend more time with the Chelsea first team so he can continue to grow with experience.
Speaking in his post match interview, Lampard said
He is a player that I feel the more he trains with us that the better he gets. I think it is a really good environment for him so with the injuries we have, in the short term, he will spend time with us.”
Lampard also applauded Billy Gilmour who won the Man of the match but didn’t mention anything about Billy spending time with the first team but this is of course because Billy Gilmour is already a bonified member of the squad.
Lampard on Gilmour’s future:
I see him growing with us
He was sent to regain fitness with the U-23 during recovery from his knee injury but since last season, he has already took a place in Chelsea’s first team squad and with his fitness level looking quite ok, he should continue to train and get involve in upcoming matches with the first team.
