Edouard Mendy admits he could have done better against Everton after error his mistake meant Chelsea lost all 3 points
Mendy unnecessary clash with Everton’s Calvert Lewis led to the penalty which Sigurdsson converted cooly and Chelsea were unable to find the back of the net till the game ended.
That means the incident became the decider of Chelsea’s fate as they saw their 17 games unbeaten run crumble at Goodison Park and some persons held Edouard Mendy responsible for the Everton’s goal.
Mendy also admitted his fault an his mis-calculation. Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Mendy said:
I thought I’d win the ball. It all happened so fast, I judged the tackle wrongly and could have done better.
We’ve tried to keep the spirit so far and hopefully could surprise many this season.
Lampard also commented on the Mendy’s penalty incident but the Gaffer feels it was more of a team error than Mendy’s error. Speaking after the game also, Lampard said:
Yes [it was unlike Mendy], he’s been fantastic since he’s been here. Clearly not just his mistake either. Our mentality with second balls wasn’t good.
