According to the Telegraph, lampard believes that Giroud might have added belief over his importance to Chelsea’s ranks after starting the last three premier league games.
Earlier in December, Giroud fired all four goals as Chelsea ran out 4-0 winners against Sevilla but the French man later underlined his desire for more regular game time.
The 34-year-old striker is eager to secure his place in France’s Euro 2020 squad next summer but there is fierce competition for places among the world cup winners.
Since his stunning four-goal blitz against Sevilla, he has started Chelsea’s last three premier league games. He scored twice in those encounters, once in the 3-1 win over Leeds and another in the 2-1 defeat by wolves.
Giroud nearly left Chelsea in the previous January transfer window amid interest from rivals Tottenham but stayed and played a key part for lampard’s side in the remainder of the season.
The France striker could well repeat that role again, with Chelsea facing a bumper schedule in the coming weeks.
Chelsea’s next match is on Monday against London rivals West Ham at Stamford Bridge, where Giroud will look to add to his eight goals for the blues so far this season.
