Havertz is a player who was known for his versality in the Bundesliga. The German could play up to four different positions through midfield and attack.
However it hasn’t been going so well for him at Chelsea. He has been unable to put in a fine performance when playing at the wing or false nine position.
Recently he has been deployed mostly as a right sided 8 alongside Mason Mount in midfield and he still struggled.
Now fans are beginning to think the 21 years old isn’t versatile after all because he only seems to perform fairly when playing the no 10 role.
Lampard however believes Kai can play the no 8 role just fine.
Speaking in his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s match against West Ham on Monday when asked if 4-3-3 suits kai Havertz, Lampard said:
It does. Before Covid he was playing very well as the right-sided eight but consistency is sometimes a good thing and what I want to get for him.
Lampard went on added that he needs time from them and the fans to settle down properly
The reaction around him… he had no pre-season, then got Covid and all eyes are on because of the price tag but we need huge perspective here.
Not saying it will take a long, long time but he does need time to settle in. For Chelsea fans and us, we must give him time.
