Lampard left Thiago Silva in the bench while Zouma and Reece James didn’t even make the squad list as Chelsea drew 1-1 against Aston Villa yesterday.
Many expected Lampard to rotate the team as Chelsea played against Arsenal just 48 hours earlier. However not many expected to changes to be that much as Frank Lampard used a whole different backline leaving only Chilwell.
Lampard however revealed that Reece James is currently suffering an hamstring injury and feels the rested players would have been rested anyway because they deserved the rests and the defeat against Arsenal has nothing to do with it.
Lampard on Kurt Zouma and Silva:
Thiago Silva, I think at his age I had to consider the games. Kurt Zouma’s played a lot of games himself.
Lampard on Reece James
Reece James has got a small hamstring issue, not saying that’s why Azpi played.
