Tuchel picks two players who saved Chelsea from defeat against Barnsley; comments on the overall performance also

Chelsea defeated Barnsley 0-1 at Oakwell Stadium to progress into the quarter finals of the FA Cup but it wasn’t exactly all rosey for the Blues throughout 90 minutes.

Chelsea suffered to contain the high press and intensity from the Championship side especially in the first half and were lucky not to have fallen a goal or two behind in that half alone.

Chelsea however added some intensity into their game in the second half but only after Thomas Tuchel had removed Christensen and Alonso at the break and restructured into a back four.

Tammy was able to grab a goal which was the only goal in the game and only shot on target for Chelsea.

It’s no surprise that Thomas Tuchel himself knew Chelsea were lucky in the game and admits it’s one of those days. He pointed out that Kepa Arrizabalaga saved the game in the firs half with his beautiful early save while Tammy Abraham saved the game in the second half with his goal.

Speaking to the media after the game, Thomas Tuchel said this about Chelsea’s performance in the game:

We were lucky twice. Kepa saved us in the first half and Tammy saved us in the second. We struggled today but in the cup it’s sometimes like this. I don’t want to be too hard on the guys.

Tuchel admits Barnsley were unlucky:

Yes, I have to be honest, yes [I am relieved]. We can stop analysing it. It is already done. Chelsea are through to the quarter final full stop.
