Why the Porto vs Chelsea quarter-final is to be played in Spain and Portugal

Last Tuesday, UEFA released an official statement to announce that both legs of the Champions League quarter-final between Chelsea and Porto will be played on Spanish soil.
The two teams will face each other on Wednesday at Sevilla’s home ground, the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, which will also host the second leg six days later.

Why was this quarter-final tie moved?

UEFA were forced to take the aforementioned decision due to the travel restrictions between the United Kingdom and Portugal.

While Portugal is no longer on the British government’s red list, one which is consisted of countries on a travel ban, anyone travelling to England will have to go into a 10-day self-isolation.

Meanwhile, the Spanish government announced on March 23 their decision to lift restrictions on air and sea arrivals from the UK, a ban that was placed back in December.
