The summer transfer window is now open and it’s the start of a really busy few months for Chelsea. The Blues are set to rebuild their squad under their new Owners in order to try close the gap between the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City next season.

Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel knows he has a big challenge ahead of him to try and mount a serious title challenge with Chelsea, but it is one that can be achieved if the recruitment is right this summer. It’s easier said than done, of course, but a busy summer period, involving plenty of incomings and outgoings, is expected either way.

One Big move that could happen is the departure of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian forward has struggled to adapt to the Premier League upon his return, finding the net 17 times in 44 appearances. His misfortune in front of goal has cast doubt over his future in west London, though he’s still managed to attract interest in his services from several top European sides.

He’s been linked with a return to Inter Milan. Media outlet Sky Italia claim that the Blues have given the green light to his exit, with the 29-year-old reportedly wanting to part ways with Thomas Tuchel.

Reports have it now that he’s returning to London early in order to finalise his future. Most players are using the end of the international campaign as a chance to go on holiday and enjoy some time off, but Correire dello sport, via the Mirror, have suggested that the striker will return to the Capital to try and resolve his future before the end of the month.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks and months, but as things stand, it looks as though Lukaku’s Chelsea homecoming will be short-lived.
