German giants, Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping close tabs on Kai Havertz’s situation at Chelsea, with the Bundesliga champions long-term fans of the former Bayer Leverkusen forward.
The 23-year-old forward played 150 games for Bayer Leverkusen between 2016 and 2020, founding back of the net 46 times and providing 31 assists, before making the switch to Stamford Bridge in a big-money deal.
Havertz has played 93 games for Chelsea in all competitions, founding back of the net 23 times and provided 14 assists, although he has largely struggled for consistency following his time at Stamford Bridge.
The German started the Blues 2022-23 Premier League opener against the Merseyside Blues last weekend, however, he was withdrawn in the 75th minute of the contest, having found it tough to make his mark.
According to Sport1, Bayern Munich are long-term fans of the ex-Leverkusen starlet and are currently keeping close tabs on his position at Stamford Bridge.
The report suggests that the German champions viewed Kai Havertz as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski earlier in the summer, with team sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic making enquiries.
“We have heard that Bayern would even have preferred to place Lewandowski with Chelsea in order to bring Havertz to Munich,” said journalist Kerry Hau.
