Rudiger has been sidelined for the most part of this season by Frank Lampard.
With five center backs available in the squad, it’s been a difficult choice for the gaffer.
Rudiger didn’t feature in any of Chelsea’s first few games including the Carabao cup and that brought his future in Chelsea into question.
The German tried to leave before the transfer window ended but the deal failed to pull through so everyone were expecting he would try again in the winter break.
However with recent changes in Lampard’s choices, it seems Rudiger is no longer interested in leaving Chelsea.
Lampard handed the 27 years old his first Premier League start in Chelsea’s last Premier League outing against Newcastle in the absence of Thiago Silva and has become more involved in Chelsea’s recent games.
These recent development has made the German develop a change of heart. While speaking to SID, Rudiger explained how he feels:
I’m satisfied with how the situation has developed in the past weeks. Now I see myself as a permanent part of the team. I had a tough time, so I also checked other transfer options but I received positive signals from the coaching team.
Rudiger is a major asset for the German National team and has been a major part of the Chelsea’s squad in recent years.
However, Rudiger staying at the club means that the likes of Fikayo Tomori and Christensen stay at the club are now under threat.
Reports are already suggested Tomori will seek for a loan move in January.
What do you think about Rudiger staying at the club?
Who would you rather leave between Christensen, Tomori and Rudiger if it were up to you?
