Chelsea duo Jorginho and Edouard Mendy have both miss out on the chance to join the national team in the break because of Injuries.
It was a surprise when we didn’t see Jorginho in the Italy call up squad but Italy boss Roberto Mancini has explained why Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, was missing from his team for the upcoming international games.
Although Jorginho is a key player for his country, Mancini has revealed that he suffered a knock on his knee in training, and he doesn’t want to risk him.
“As regards to the midfielders, we are really in a bit of difficulty in the centre,” Roberto Mancini said in his press conference on Monday.
“We’re missing Jorginho, who wasn’t well.
“He’d taken a knock to the knee and he wasn’t fit to play in these games so we didn’t risk him.”
Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will also miss out from the international games, as the Senegal international has been scheduled for operation on his tooth as confirmed by Thomas Tuchel.
Both players situation are minor and are expected to recover during this international break and be possibly fit before our Champions League game against Porto.
