Following a season which ended on a high for Chelsea, boss Thomas Tuchel is looking to overhaul his squad in his own image.
Tuchel guided the Blues to a top four place and the Champions League title in his first six months in charge, but now wants to bring in reinforcements.
Signings are expected to be made at striker, fullback and central midfield, with boss Tuchel highlighting those areas as the weaker parts of his squad.
Outgoings will also be on the horizon at Stamford Bridge, with underperforming players set to be shipped out.
Blues make Saul move
Chelsea have made their first move in the pursuit of Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul, who is attracting the interest of Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Spaniard has become a key player for Diego Simeone, making 33 appearances as Atletico won their first La Liga title for seven years.
He is capable of playing across the midfield, having been selected on both wings, as a holder and through the middle in the season just gone.
That has attracted the eye of Thomas Tuchel, who is seeking to boost his midfield options in his first full transfer window as Blues boss.
Tuchel has sent Billy Gilmour out on loan to Norwich, opening up a space in his squad for a new central midfielder.
And it seems the man they want to fill that gap is Saul, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reporting Chelsea have submitted an enquiry to Atletico about the 26-year-old.
