Chelsea reportedly reached out to Leonardo Spinazzola with a message of support after his devastating injury at Euro 2020, with the Blues interested in a transfer deal.
Thomas Tuchel has one of the best left-backs in the Premier League in the shape of Ben Chilwell, but with rumours that Marcos Alonso could leave the club, there may be space that will need to get filled.
And According to Il Messaggero, the Blues are interested in the Roma star after an impressive Euro 2020 campaign.
The report states that Thomas Tuchel is interested in adding to his defensive options and Spinazzola is one player that reportedly ticks all the boxes.
The 28-year-old has been influential for Roberto Mancini’s Italian side, picking up Star of the Match awards against Austria and Turkey for his displays.
However, his tournament is over this summer after the Roma star pulled up in the 80th minute of Italy’s 2-1 victory over Belgium and broke down in tears as he was stretchered off the field at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
It has since been confirmed that Spinazzola ruptured his Achilles tendon, meaning he requires surgery and could be out of action for around six or seven months.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Roma full-back has received a barage of messages and phone calls from team-mates, opposition players and rival teams in the days that have passed, with Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia among those to wish him all the best.
The report claims the Blues are one of the clubs most keen on landing Spinazzola and could step up their interest in the Italy international over the coming weeks.
