Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri has popped up on Roma’s transfer radar as they look to sign a replacement for the injured Leonardo Spinazzola this summer.

Leonardo has undergone surgery and is expected to be out for multiple months, with the Serie A giants now actively looking to bring in a replacement for the first-choice left-back.

Roma are aware that the former Juventus ace could miss the first half of next campaign completely and are looking at options in the market.

And according to Italian media outlet Tutto Mercato, they’re considering making a move for Leonardo’s understudy in the Italy team, Emerson.

Palmieri has a year left on his Stamford Bridge contract but there are fears the west Londoners could take up the option to renew it by one more year to protect his market value.

Napoli are also keen on getting their hands on the technically gifted player, who is interested in returning to Italy this summer.

The Rome-based outfit are also now expected to make an attempt to bring him back to Stadio Olimpico at the end of the European Championship.
