Chelsea have already clinched one trophy this year, beating Villarreal for the UEFA Super Cup.

The Blues then began their domestic campaign in style, putting Crystal Palace to the sword by three goals to nil.

Marcos Alonso, Christian Pulisic and Trevoh Chalobah were all on target vs the Eagles.

Arsenal, meanwhile, would fall to a disappointing 2-0 defeat vs newly promoted Brentford on Friday evening.

Thomas Tuchel on Lukaku, Kante & Pulisic

Ahead of Sunday’s game, Thomas Tuchel would speak to the media on Friday afternoon.

The German discussed a number of topics in his presser, including injury news.

N’Golo Kante would miss Chelsea’s Premier League opener after he picked up a knock in the Super Cup earlier this month.

It was then reported that both he and Christian Pulisic were not involved in Chelsea’s open training session on Wednesday:

So, there was no doubt some concern over the pair’s availability vs Arsenal.

However, in his presser, Tuchel would provide mixed updates on the pair. Firstly, Christian Pulisic is due to miss out vs Arsenal after testing positive for Covid-19. Kante, on the other hand, could still be in the squad on Sunday:

“Christian has unfortunately had a postive test and needs to follow the protocols. He’s not been training and is not availible for the game. Hakim and N’Golo both trained yesterday so we need to have more physical intense session tomorrow and decide tomorrow. Right now, it seems very positive that both can be in the squad for Sunday.”

Elsewhere, Tuchel confirmed it is likely Romelu Lukaku will play some part vs Arsenal

“We have one more training session to go but the week was a heavy load. He was with the group with the late starters, so it was an overload week so far. Today was low intensity and tomorrow we will have an important session before the match. We hope he will be on the pitch on Sunday and it looks likely.”
