Borussia Dortmund are plotting a loan move for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in the final weeks of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The 20-year-old has not featured for the Blues this season under Thomas Tuchel as the Blues currently have plenty of attacking options, including £98m summer signing Romelu Lukaku.

Hudson-Odoi was chased by Dortmund’s Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich in the past two seasons with Chelsea rejecting several offers from the German champions before the player signed a £180,000-a-week long-term contract.

And according to The Guardian, Dortmund are not fazed by Tuchel’s desire to keep  Hudson-Odoi at Stamford Bridge in this campaign and want to bring him to the Ruhr-land for the season.

The report also says Hudson-Odoi’s long-term desire is to remain at Chelsea and work his way up to a first-team regular, but recognises the need for first-team footbal and the Blues are waiting to see if Dortmund make an official offer.

Hudson-Odoi has been an unused substitute in each of Chelsea’s three Premier League games so far, with Tuchel’s side remaining unbeaten in that time despite facing trips to Arsenal and Liverpool.

The west Londoners have played a front three of new signing Lukaku, Kai Havertz and Mason Mount – with Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech also used from the bench in recent matches.

Hudson-Odoi is also capable of playing as a wing-back in Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 system but Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are options on the right, with Marcos Alonso and Ben Chilwell on the left.

The 20-year-old was not selected by England manager Gareth Southgate for the World Cup qualifiers in September and Hudson-Odoi rejected the chance to join up with the Three Lions’ Under-21s team to work on his development.

Chelsea boss Tuchel revealed the winger is frustrated with his lack of game time but still rejected the chance to get some September minutes at youth international level.

‘Personally I could see the advantage in having some minutes and being in a leading role for the Under 21s but he decided differently so he will deal with the consequences,’ Tuchel said.

‘He is not happy with his situation but he never ever brings his frustration to work.’
