Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is ‘dreaming’ of a move back to Italy and could make his ambitions come true after competing in the 2022 World Cup, according to his agent.
The Blues star is on a high after winning both the Champions League and European Championship with the Azzurri this summer, and already has his sights set on his next move despite being one of the first names on the team-sheet for Chelsea.
Jorginho has spent the last three years at Stamford Bridge since securing a £50million move from Napoli and has solidified his place in midfield alongside N’Golo Kante – playing 145 times thus far.
But his representative Joao Santos believes Jorginho is looking to move back to Italy in the next couple of years – and could seal his departure after his involvement in Qatar with the national team.
‘He has a contract with Chelsea until [June] 2023,’ Santos told Radio Bianconera, via Goal. ‘Obviously, it would be a dream for him to return to Italy, hopefully after winning the World Cup.
‘We’ll have to see what the market looks like in a couple of years and what the other situations are.’
Jorginho has always had his admirers in his native Italy, but he was courted by former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri – who he also worked with at Napoli – when the coach moved to Juventus.
Santos revealed Juve had made an offer and that a switch to Turin was ‘a possibility’ in 2019 before he ended up committing his future to the Blues.
‘In the past, when Sarri was the coach, there was a possibility that Jorginho would come to Juventus,’ he said. ‘The Juventus director made an approach, it was a possibility.’
