Chelsea will look to do some transfer business this month as they look to make a mush in the race for the Premier League title, along with challenging in other competitions.
The Blues are down both of their starting full-backs, with Ben Chilwell ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL and Reece James out for several weeks after suffering a torn hamstring.
Thomas Tuchel is certainly keen on bringing in one full-back, while Chelsea have also been linked with players from other positions.
It remains to be seen how active they are in the transfer window this month, but they could also be setting themselves up for a massive summer in 2022.
One marquee signing who could be brought to the club is Frenchman Aurelien Tchouameni.
Aged just 21, Tchouameni has already captained Monaco while making seven appearances for France last year.
The defensive midfielder – who is also reported to be a Liverpool target – is seen as one of the better players in world football in his position and will only improve with his best years still ahead of him.
Whilst Monaco are reluctant to sell, Chelsea are reportedly ‘optimistic’ in their long-term pursuit.
That’s according to Sports Illustrated, coming off the back of football.london revealing there were talks between the Blues and the midfielder’s entourage but nothing materialised in the end and Saul Niguez was brought in on deadline day to provide extra depth.
Elsewhere, Barcelona are reportedly ready to accept low-ball offers for full-back Sergino Dest. Chelsea have been linked with the American, who is capable of playing on either defensive flank.
El Nacional have reported that Barcelona will accept as little as £16million for Dest, as they look to free his wages up to bring in new signings.
Finally, German outlet Bild have reported that Borussia Dortmund have joined the chase to sign Andreas Christensen.
The Danish centre-back is set to become a free agent this summer amid a dispute over the length of a potential new contract at Stamford Bridge.
Bild state that the player’s agent has been talking with clubs across Europe with a view to finding a new club in the summer.
Chelsea could lose as many as four defenders in the summer, with Thiago Silva, Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Christensen all seeing their contracts come to an end.
