Fans felt Hakim Ziyech’s failure to celebrate his goal against Brighton pointed to problems in the Chelsea dressing room.

The Moroccan winger was one of the players most widely criticised following Saturday’s defeat at Manchester City.

Ziyech, who was making only his eighth league start of the season, opened the scoring against the run of play in the 28th minute with a well-struck low drive from outside the box.

But Ziyech could barely raise a smile as his team-mates ran over to congratulate him at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night.

One fan tweeted: ‘The more I watch that Ziyech celebration and it’s pretty clear he’s someone down right? I love the pettiness but I’m not sure that is a good sign.’

Ziyech isn’t good enough to have the arrogant no smile goal celebration.’

Another said: ‘There’s something wrong in that dressing room.’

Ziyech was also involved in a heated exchange with Romelu Lukaku as they walked off at half-time.

Lukaku, who upset coach Thomas Tuchel by questioning his tactics, was unhappy after two passes went astray.

One supporter said: ‘I love how people hating on Lukaku when the real problem is Ziyech’

While another said: ‘Club is a shambles right now.’

Adam Webster’s second-half equaliser provided another huge blow to Chelsea’s dwindling hopes of winning this season’s Premier League title.
